My love for the sport goes all the way back to Cabarita SLS Club, I was 4 at the time, too young to join, so I became involved through my brother’s age group in the U7’s. I was instantly hooked as soon as I saw the kids doing flags and paddling in the water. There was nothing my parents could do to keep me away. After travelling overseas with my family for 6 months, I moved to Cudgen in the U10s. I remember loving Sunday nippers, having fun at training and going away for nipper carnivals. I played soccer in my early years, but sadly had to give it up after having 3 surgeries for fused bones in my feet. I enjoy setting challenges for myself and learning new skills–even outside of surf sports. My family has been a massive support throughout my sporting journey. They’ve been there for every carnival and stuck by me through all the ups and downs. My mum wears many hats–she’s my dietitian, recovery specialist, applications manager, and support crew all in one. I honestly don’t know where I’d be without her. The crew at cudgen is incredible. They are supportive, fun, and we always encourage each other to be better. You’ll hear us on the beach cheering each other on or throwing around some friendly banter. I couldn’t ask for a more amazing team that pushes me to reach my goals, whilst keeping me grounded at the same time.
